Continuing Education Requirements

  • Eight hours of continuing education, of which a minimum of four hours must be code related, must be on file in order to renew your license.  Licenses expire every year as follows:
    • Master:  April 30th
    • Class B:  April 30th
    • Power Limited Electrician:  April 30th
    • Journeyman:  March 31st
  • All continuing education courses attended, classroom, webinar, online and correspondence, must be board approved in order to be accepted.
  • Continuing education credits will not be given for attending the same continuing education class more than once in a code cycle (example: same sponsor, same title and same class approval number).
  • The board requires proof of continuing education completion to come from the provider. We do not accept individual completion certificates.  The provider of the class shall submit a roster to the board within fifteen days following the class.  Keep this time frame in mind as your deadline to renew approaches.
  • Continuing education credits can be deposited with the board for a period up to two license renewal periods.
  • If you have taken any online or correspondence courses approved by the board, but taken it through another state, you will need to contact that provider for the requirements to receive continuing education credit for North Dakota.
