The applicant is now required to obtain the appropriate information before submitting an Application for an Electrical License.  Please refer to the Application for an Electrical License for Instructions.  Our requirements include, but are not limited to, electrical construction work being done in a jurisdiction regulating similar licensing and inspection rules of the State of North Dakota, and under the supervision of a Master Electrician.

If an applicant successfully completed at least two years of an electrical school approved by the State Electrical Board, the applicant must authorize the school to release an official  transcript to be sent to the State Electrical Board in order to verify the completed course.  Applicant will be granted two thousand hours credit . Schools such as NDSCS, Minnesota State Community & Technical College, and Dunwoody are acceptable.

For an exam, upon final approval of the application by the Board, the applicant shall be sent an invitation to take the examination.  The invitation shall outline the available testing dates.  Upon receiving the invitation, the applicant shall contact the State Electrical Board and inform the Board as to the date chosen to take the examination.   

An applicant that is approved for examination has six months from the exam invite date to test or will be required to submit another application along with the necessary fee. 

Passing grade is 70%
